FAQ

Here are some of the questions we get asked most often by our customers.

No. Every fire will generate some smoke, especially just after you light it. Once the fire gets up to speed and heats the double wall drums then you can expect up to a 70% reduction in smoke compared to a regular wood fire.

In the bottom of the drum there is a stainless steel plate with holes in it. If you insert the handles into the sides of the fire pit and give the drum a little shake the ash falls through the holes at the bottom.

Whatever fuel you normally use to make your fire. Wood or charcoal are both fine.

You can put your fire pit onto a stone or cement surface but if you put it on top of your deck or tiles then it would be best to put a heat shield below it to protect those surfaces.

You can clean the stainless steel outer drum with a non abrasive cloth and detergent. The inner drum is made from mild steel that has been coated with a heat resistant coating. Eventually that coating will burn off and it would be good to re-coat it from time to time to prevent rust.

After removing the screw-in handles the outer drum can be pulled apart from the inner drum. Paint the inner drum with NS4 or a similar rust retardant primer to prevent it rusting.
